About VHEY

Visit Hull & East Yorkshire (VHEY) is the Yorkshire sub-region’s Destination Management Organisation (DMO). The DMO was formed from a partnership between Yorkshire Forward, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull City Council.

The creation of the new organisation followed a major national Government review of tourism delivery. Having a DMO minimises duplication, better sells the region and gives power for local promotion to a local tourism body. By joining the tourism departments together in the region and forming a DMO the area has also been able to access additional funding to help attract tourism and the tourist pound to the area.

As the sub-region’s DMO, VHEY is responsible for generating increased tourism activity in Hull & East Yorkshire through a range of innovative marketing activities and tourism business support.

As an organisation VHEY aims to support businesses in order to:

Focus on increasing awareness of Hull & East Yorkshire’s tourism offer to a national audience.

Increase awareness of Hull & East Yorkshire’s tourism offer to domestic and international audiences through partnerships with tourism bodies such as Enjoy England and Visit Britain.

Develop positive perceptions of the area as a destination and visitor experience.

Evoke confidence and support for the organisations delivering this.

Our key objectives are to:

Communicate effectively with stakeholders and partner organisations to ensure clarity of the key aims of VHEY and support for their delivery.

Establish VHEY as the gateway for information in the sub-region relating to the tourism and visitor market.

Promote the destination and the activity within it.

Support and underpin all activity relating to VHEY business plan particularly in relation to key objective to increase visitor spend within the sub-region by 5%.
